11 th Aug myself and Bharath were on the wheels to Panajim. At 9.30 AM, we had to book a bike for 350 per day for our 4 day trip . The GPS was on and it was half an hour drive to Flower Holiday home, our hotel at Candolim. After finishing our breakfast , It was the time for Sinquerim fort which was just 20 km drive from our hotel.
Beautiful fort besides Taj Hotel along with the less populated beach. It was a great start. Aguada fort was half an hour drive from there with cool weather and beautiful view around. It was almost 1.30 PM.Quite sunny and a bit crowded too. The Portuguese fort had a beautiful surrounding with the beach and greenery. There was an underground water storage area, gun powder room, light house and secret escape passages.
Quenching our thirst with lemon soda , Bharath had to buy a hat as it was getting too hot . We later came back to our hotel for the lunch and rested for the day.In the evening we checked into the bookstall just opposite to our room .It was pretty good shop with hell lot of books so he picked 2 books of his interest.
Good morning day 2.Reis Magos fort was something in my mind even before we started our journey. It was 25 km from the hotel.Beautiful it was surrounded by beach and coconut trees opposite to the capital, Panjim. The fort has a museum with lot of paintings and pictures related to Portuguese, a small souvenir shop and also a prison.
Very quite and peaceful place to hangout with few people around.Fresh start of the day.Shanta Durga temple is one of the famous durga temple in Goa and it was on the way so we decided to take blessings.Spending 10 minutes there, we headed to Calangute beach which was 40 min drive.Too crowded it was at the entrance.
Strolling around the beach and shops for a while i picked up fridge magnets, clicked some pics and took a drive to Baga beach. The most happening beach in the state.Oh my Goodness ! The people around were crazy in spite of the warnings thrown by the security.Tender coconut ! Yes. 40 rs and so less water ! cheated . We though of having a tiny break and sat along the beach side tasting corn soup and onion pakodas. It started to drizzle and on the way we had our lunch and reached room for the rest.
Hello Day 3 , a 45 min drive to Ribandar ferry crossing with lots of confusions on roadways, finally took a ferry along with our bike and landed in Chorao island to visit Dr.Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary . It was a damn bad idea since there were no one for the boat ride nor it was the right time for the visit. We just had a small walk and it was a u turn back to Ribander.
Dona Paula was a women of charity .So the villagers after her death ,decided to rename Odavell to Dona Paula. There is a view point and lots of shops by the road side for shopping enthusiasts.
Miramar beach was a few kms away so we rested there for half an hour under the tree and had puffed rice and cucumber. We entered kala mandir as well thinking that it would be open but,bad luck ,there was pooja going on and we were unlucky to gaze at the art center.Atlast, a long drive to room for the lunch and an evening walk for the hair spa. That was all about the day.Good night .
YAAY last day of the trip.Happy Independence Day with a tri color dosa in a hotel for breakfast ! From there to Chapora fort.A half km hike under the hot sun and there u go , the very famous Dil Chahta Hai view point.
On the other side, was a hill with a long mud trail leading to a beautiful beach view.Curiosity made us jump the wall and walk towards the end . We took n number of pics with different poses and view points.Just a perfect end for the trip.
Spending almost an hour and quenching our thirst with lemonade, finally into the room for the last packing. We reached Panjim at 4.30 PM to return our friend , the yellow dio ! Bangalore welcomed at 6.30 AM.Goan monsoons are to die for !
