First, understand that
‘Nagalapuram’ is a name of a town in the Andhra Pradesh. And ‘Nagalapuram waterfalls trek’ is
different than just reaching the ‘Nagalapuram town’. ‘Nagalapuram waterfalls
trek’ is around 18 Kms from the ‘Nagalapuram town’.
To reach Nagalapuram
waterfalls, search “Arai Village, Arai,
Andhra Pradesh 517581” on Google maps. There is a motorable road until
this village. The road from Nagalapuram to Arai village passes through the
Pichatur town. This village is also the base village of the Nagalapuram trek.
From Pichatur, Arai village
is around 11 Km. Once you reach Pichatur, you can also ask locals for the Arai
village and they will guide you towards you the village.
We started from Bangalore
on 7th night. There were 8 of us in the TT altogether. We reached Arai village
at 4.30 AM.Rooms were booked earlier in the nearby hotel on the roadside. After
resting till 6.30 AM, we got refreshed and had dosas in the same hotel.Later a
family of 4 accompanied with us with 2 cute 8 yr old twins Samaira and Sarayu. Our
TT took us about 2 km to Nagalapuram trekking car parking. There were already a
lot of cars and bikes there when we reached. So lot of people must have come
for trekking. We had to go over the higher ground to get down on the other
side. Then we went into the forest by taking the path on side of the lake. It
was about 2 km from there till we reached the stream.

Then there was a place
looked like a camping place, but really dirty. There was a sign board warning
not to swim as the pond is too deep. After a while we saw the stream. Most of
the trail goes under the jungle canopy which makes us easy to hike up without
having to face the afternoon sun. After trekking for about 3 hrs, we found a
small pond where we took a small dip.Heading further, there was another pond
but was too crowded.

So, we decided to reach the final pond where we could take
a slide or jump from 20 feet.By 1 PM, we made it to that place.Few took a deep
jump while few enjoyed swimming along with other co trekkers. It was fun.We had
our lunch and headed further top for about one more hr to to explore
another water fall falling from 30 ft height.
The highlight, 20 ft jumping place |
That's the sliding place |

After resting a bit, it was time
to say bye to the trek and we reached the base where there was a lake to pitch
our tents. On the way , we also collected dry barks , leaves etc for camp fire but
unfortunately, it started to drizzle. With great difficulty we pitched 4 tents
on the bank of the lake by 6 PM.Canp fire plan was shut down.

Later by 8
PM , we somehow managed to set a small camp fire which helped us to have our
dinner(rotis, rice, dal etc) which we parceled from the hotel . Samaira and
Sarayu stared to talk to me about their farm house , domestic animals with whom
they spend their time with, rooster, ducks, goats etc. They were fond of reading
books and took English classes.Their mother runs a school.Their lifestyle was a little different from the other kids that i have seen these days.It was good to listen to their stories. They also visited Goa many times
since their mother was from the same place. It was their birthday trek.Their never ending stories took away
my tiredness.
Good night time !
Next day morning we woke up
at 6 AM , packed our tents and had break fast in the same hotel where we had
the other day. From there we started to Bangalore and reached Bangalore by 6 PM
while we had our lunch on the way in a hotel.
