since a very long time & now it was the time to actually try wine.I reached
Kengeri Railway station at 7.30 and took a Mysore train at 8.25 AM.
Reached Ramnagar at 9.45 AM.It was a very hot
day. After enquiring with the locals, we got to know that there was no stop near
Heritage wineary from any of the local or KSRTC buses. So, we took an auto to
Heitage winery. There is a small deviaion before Kadamba hotel towards left for
3 kms, which takes us to the wine
factory. There were n number of boards along the way which made us easy to
identify the route. The founder of the Winery welcomed us .We had to pay an
entry fee of Rs 400/- per head and then headed towards the wine making process
and wineyard.
It was very informative one hour session. After the session, we
got to taste 5 different kinds of wines .I felt a bit dizzy ! Eulopa resturant
attached to the winery was very attractive and the menu tempted us to taste
potato nuggets.
It was super hot and tasty.I purchased a small bottle of Red
Wine too !After few photo shoots, we had
to take the same auto to chennapatna bus stand since there were no transportation
from heritage winery. It was almost 12 PM.
JANAPADA LOKA
We found that autos were quite reasonable to visit Janapada loka from
Channapatna. So we took an auto and reached Janapada Loka by 12.45 PM. Janapada Loka or "Folk
world" or "Folk-culture World" is a folk museum that has an
exclusive display of the village folk arts of Karnataka.
It is under the aegis of the Karnataka Janapada Parishat Loka Mahal, a wing in the museum has a
display of 5,000 folk artifacts. It
is situated in Ramanagara
district in the Indian state of
Karnataka, on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, 53 kilometres (33 mi) to the
south of Bangalore.
H. L. Nage Gowda, an Indian civil servant and folklorist thought of
creating a museum to exhibit the varied folk art and culture of Karnataka.
Accordingly Karnataka Janapada Parishat (Janapada Academy) was first
established on 21 March 1979. Gowda and his friends continued collecting
antiques for this institution for the next three decades. The current museum
land in Bangalore-Mysore highway was bough on 12 March 1994.
Janapada Loka is divided into separate wings — Folk arts museum, Loka
Mahal, Chitra Kuteera, Doddamane, Shilamala, Arghyamala etc. The museum has a
collection of 5,000 folk artefacts. The Janapada
Loka campus consists of a decorated gate, a short road with display of
mannequins of folk artists, symbols of traditional tribal worship, Lokamatha
Mandira, Loka Mahal, Chitra Kuteera, Janapada Library, Shilamala, Ayagaramala,
puppet theater, open air theater and Loka Sarovara or lake.More details
can be found in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janapada_Loka
.
After seeing all the wings, we were hungry and quickly
rushed towards Kamat hotel which is just next to Janapada loka to taste the
yummy Karavali hotel. Then we again came back to Janapada Loka since there were
some dance classes and veeragaase dance shows. We had a great time laughting at
the dancers of all age trying to learn the folk steps..It was 4 PM.We took an
auto and reached Ramnagar Bus stand. From there we had a small walk along the
market to Ramnagar Railway station. The train to Bangalore was at 5.30 PM.We
reached home safely by 7 PM after a fantastic and funny day out !
