I could finally make it this time to these two wonderful places as they occupied somewhere on my mind since 2 years. That was a long journey from Majestic to Tadipatri, a village in Kurnool District. It was a cold morning.I could gaze ladies cleaning and decorating the surroundings of there houses from the bus window since it was the day of auspicious Sankranti festival.I had to rest for about 4 hrs in a lodge nearby and made a move to Belum caves in a local bus which was around 35 kms . Had to satisfy myself with biscuits in the morning since there was no good hotels available in Tadipatri. Weather was really high by the time I entered into the caves.Belum caves is the largest and longest caves available for tourists in India.
It is almost 3 kms in length allowed to walk but around 1 km was allowed at the moment. Stalactite and Stalagmite formations are a treat to watch. It was quite cool at the entrance but then i began to sweat as i started to walk.It tool around 1 hr to complete the cave walk. After managing 2 idlis at a small hotel in the main road, we (along with 2 more girls from Bangalore) had to wait for a bus to Kolimigundla, which was 3 kms from the cave.Later, i took a small local van to Jammalamadugu which was about 1 hr journey.Weather was too hot to save myself from just water.Luckily managed with tender coconut water and chapatis in a nearby hotel."The next bus to Gandikota is at 2.30 PM ", said a local driver. (In my mind-"Almost 1 hr to wait ! No ! Let's catch an auto ".)There was already a guy Syed ready to take off to Gandikota, we decided to share and reached there at 2 PM.Syed was also a hard core solo traveler who had been to many places outside India.
We spent almost 4 hrs in the Grand Canyon of India facing ourselves to the cool breeze. Also visited a mosque, a fort and a temple in the premises.By 5 PM , we took the same auto and reached Jammalamadugu for an early dinner.Said bye to Syed and took my bus back to Bangalore at 8.30 PM to reach the next day day morning. It was a super fast one day trip .Felt like tapping by back for planning it really well ! :)
